Hardware

The good news for budget gamers is that Half-Life was designed to work on systems circa 1998 and is no longer a cutting-edge game. Valve recommends a Pentium 166+, 32MB RAM and a graphics card capable of 3D acceleration.

Chumpland editor Laten_C does very well with his less than state of the art Pentium 266, 64MB RAM and a Voodoo3 2000 video card. Check out Chumpland’s Graphics Card Guide but remember that the most significant upgrade in terms of multiplayer performance is investment in a broadband Internet connection.
